Faculty - Andrea Peloso

Andrea Peloso has practiced yoga since the age of 15 and has taught since 2002. Her teaching has brought her across Canada, as well as the United States and Japan. She studies with Judith Lasater who she assists in trainings across North America. She also studies with Ramanad Patel with whom she has completed a three-year teacher-training program. She has studied with teachers from the Iyengar as well as Ashtanga traditions and teaches Restorative, as well as Yoga for Spinal Health, and Prenatal yoga. She is certified from the Downward Dog Yoga Center in Vinyasa Yoga and Ashtanga Yoga, and has studied intensively with Chuck Miller and Maty Ezraty. She has also studied Ashtanga yoga with Matthew Sweeney, Chuck Miller, David Robson, and Ron Reid. She is trained in yoga for pregnancy with Sasha Padron and Judith Lasater and has past initial doula training. Andrea has a love of, and interest in Ayurveda and has studied its application in Restorative Yoga with Judith Lasater, as well as completing other studies with Matthew Remski. Andrea seeks to make her classes healing, fun, and inclusive so that each student can experience optimal health and happiness.

Restorative Yoga Teacher Training

All Levels, Teacher Training

Andrea Peloso - TH1PEL

This six-hour training will introduce students and teachers to favourite, classical restoratives with attention to detail, propping, special techniques for injuries, as well as modifications for "prop low" settings. In this training you will learn one 60-minute Restorative yoga class, understand poses and set ups, philosophy, physiology and sequencing. An understanding of the parasympathetic nervous system and how it is cued and aided in various postures will be discussed. You will work both alone and in partner settings to gain new sensitivities to observation, cueing them as to when students are well propped and rested. You will practice deep restoratives, learn how to teach them and gain a new experience as to how deep they truly can let go in Restorative practice. You can choose to purchase a certificate of attendance for this immersion; however, this workshop does not denote you as a "certified Restorative Teacher" upon completion. It is an immersion training.

Yoga for Hips, Neck and Low Back

This day long immersion will allow students to experience 5 different techniques within yoga applied to their hips, back and neck that work with the natural structure of the body to reduce pain, improve posture and increase health and longevity. Students will find ways to approach yoga postures in a way that truly in the moment reduces pain, increase ease and gives insight into improving overall health for the back and hips. Students of all levels will find a host of new tools to work with and understand their bodies, and leave with a deeper sense of clarity as to when they are working in a healthy way in their yoga practice. Essential learning for beginner to advanced students.

Backbends that make your Back Feel Better

Backbends are generally overdone in the yoga world, with the wrong part of the back squashed rather than the important areas challenged to gently open. This is true from beginner to advanced levels. The result is that backbends feel confusing or uncomfortable and we have to do a counter pose right away to make our back feel better. Come out and learn about the biomechanics of your spine and back-bending techniques that will actually make your back feel fantastic and liberate your spine.
