Adaptive Yoga Moves Any Body

Mindy Eisenberg - SU5EIS

Join Yoga Moves MS and learn how yoga can be adapted for any body. This workshop will explore the joy of adaptive yoga for those with a range of abilities and neuromuscular conditions. With creativity and an open heart, you will be amazed at what you can do as a yoga instructor and therapist to help those with physical challenges. Learn how to cultivate healing power with a sense of playfulness and empowerment to feel alive and thrive in the body. Using the Yoga Moves toolbox, experience traditional standing postures in a chair and lying on the mat. Seated poses that are commonly practised on the mat will be adapted so that individuals receive similar benefits when practised in a chair. Discover how a range of postures become accessible with the use of props such as chairs, blocks, blankets, straps, and the wall. Techniques to safely lower down from and chair to the earth and lift off from the earth to a chair will be included in our time together. Instructor assistance approaches will be demonstrated and practised. Attendees will learn the basics of how to organize a small group class and build community. Information from recent studies will be addressed. A generous restorative posture will conclude our session.
