And everything is conceived because of the combination of the harmony and those two polarities of male and female, sun and moon." - Yogi BhajanIt is a well-known phenomenon that women's bodies are closely tied with the cycles of the moon. The Moon Centres are 11 specific areas of the body through which energy moves in the course of one moon cycle. The activation of each moon centre results in the manifestation of particular psychological and spiritual qualities, and the energy in each woman travels in a unique pattern. The study of moon centres dates back to Vedic times. Understanding the effects of the moon centres can empower your relationship with your body, allow you to use all aspects of your mind and free you from hidden agendas that block you from experiencing fulfilling and loving relationships, maintaining healthy self-esteem, grace and, yes, even having better sex! During our time together, we will review and discuss each of the moon centres, and the yoga postures, kriyas, and meditations that help to balance each moon centre. Jill Miller - SA1MIL

Neural flexibility. Neural resilience. Neuroscience. If these terms seem heady, this workshop will help you embody your brain's neural playground - your body. The vagus nerve is beloved by yogis for being our chief parasympathetic (relaxation response) nerve. But new science around the influence of the vagus has shifted our understanding of parasympathetic responses. This workshop teaches you how to access three anatomical zones enervated by the vagus nerve, and how each zone affects our state of perception and quality of being. The workshop includes novel, breath-based exercises coupled with soft-tissue self-massage, and positional release in order to feel the fascinating interplay of stimulating sympathetic and parasympathetic modes of being. Learn to distinguish between the myelinated and unmyelinated vagus doorways, and become familiar with Polyvagal Theory. Ultimately it will help you to be more aware of our own state and help you foster a safe environment for your students.

But the "detox potential" of yoga isn't just a matter of sweating, breathing, and doing twisting poses. Addressing only the physical (or the mental or the emotional) without considering the entire ecosystem means that we might be overlooking the part of ourselves that needs cleansing the most! In this session, discover a simple, comprehensive approach to detoxing with yoga on five levels: physical, mental, energetic, behavioural and emotional. Join Lisa to learn why, in a trauma-informed practice, we must be cognizant of the space, the poses, our adjustments and, most importantly, our language. Through understanding these concepts, you can work towards creating a safe and open environment for healing and release in your students and clients. Through the many aspects of a yoga practice we can guide our students to mindfully dig, like archaeologists, down to the marrow of these patterns, discarding the myth that we are alone. Holding gentle but steady space for our classes, we can find the freedom and union that yoga seeks through reconnecting to Indra's net (the extension of our very own fascia). Understanding Your Body's Unique Structure and Biomechanics

Jenna Switzer - SA4SWI

In this workshop students will explore how each body is truly unique in its physical structure and therefore how it can move. From the shape of our bones to the tension in our tissues, our biomechanics will affect the way we practice asana, sit in meditation, and breathe for pranyama. This workshop will give students a better understanding of their body's unique abilities, anatomy, and physiology as well as empower them in their physical practice. During this workshop we will trace scapulas and clavicles on volunteers with washable markers so we can see the different shapes visually. In partners, we will also explore the hip passive range of motion to demonstrate the structural differences in the hip. Handouts would include a brief introduction to each area to be discussed before exploring the bodies in the room.

YANG YOGA WITH A YIN ATTITUDE

Marla Ericksen - SA4ERI

The practice of yoga occurs on a spectrum between the Yang (strong, alignment-oriented, warming) and the Yin (static, passive, soft) approach to asana. Many of us gravitate to the Yin practices because it counters the Yang excess that accumulates to create an imbalance. In order for Yin practices to be effective, there needs to be a Yang contrast; both Yin and Yang forms are important and both are necessary. Join Marla to infuse your Yang practice with a Yin attitude. This mindful way of approaching dynamic vinyasa cultivates sukha - ease within the effort - making even the strongest flows accessible to all yogis. Instead of our ego pride striving towards an unattainable ideal, we recruit our vajra pride - the indestructible essence of being - to stabilize our asana practice one mindful breath at a time. All levels of yogis are welcome to this experience of embracing the Yin spectrum of asana.

Revolution of the Soul

Seane Corn - SA4COR

In this spirited and heart-centred class, learn how our evolution is the revolution, and how it begins the moment we take accountability for the choices we make that separate us from each other, the planet, and Spirit. We must go inward to understand and heal these divides, and the impact they have on our psyche, culture, and collective liberation. Our liberation, the ultimate promise of yoga, is dependent upon ALL souls being free. Therefore, we must do the inner work of transformational change, take ownership for our complicity in creating these fractures, and initiate actions to change both ourselves and the systems that cause so much suffering. The revolution begins within, and we are being called to wake up, show up, take a stand, find our voice, heal the separations that exist, and then put that love and compassion into conscious action - for the benefit of ALL.

When we do this, our practice becomes a great ally in our lives, our mat becomes like a trusted friend - a place where we're able to meet ourselves exactly where we are and be welcomed with support, acceptance, encouragement, and love. We do this not only for ourselves, but also because doing so changes the way we see others, and how we interact with the world around us. In this workshop we will practice a guided visualization to build an inner sanctuary, and do some journaling about what it would look like for us to put ourselves in the center of our lives and conclude with group sharing and discussion about takeaways.

Through yoga, we can explore the mind - body connection, the impact our emotional life has on our health, how to "read" or map the body symbolically, and how to interpret these physiological/emotional messages as spiritual guidance meant to open us to love, acceptance, and appreciation of the interconnection that binds us all as one. Join Seane for this unique vinyasa flow master class for all levels to invite radical healing into whatever area of your mind - body needs it most. Some discussion, mostly asana.
